Check FICO Score Before You Make a Purchase

If you plan on making any large purchase, you need to know whether you’ll get it, right? If you have cash, that’s not a problem. But if you need a loan or a credit card for your purchase, you’ll want to do some checking first. You may want to check FICO score before making a big purchase.

Buying a house. Buying a car. Even large furniture or other expensive items can mean applying for a loan or a new credit card. And that means you need to get approved. But will you be approved for what you need?

You must have good credit to be able to get the approval that you need. Unfortunately, you may be turned down for the credit you desperately need. But if you know your credit score before you even get started and long before you actually apply, you can help yourself out.

If you check FICO score early on, you can get a good idea of your credit. Then, you can start making changes to get your score where needed to get approved for anything you need.

Check FICO Score to See What Brings You Down

If your score is low, you can look at what brings you down. For example, it might be having too much charged to your accounts. Or it might be applying for too much credit in a short period. It could be old accounts that were closed through collections. Or it could be anything at all. It might even be that your credit isn’t bad, but it’s not as good as you need it to be.

If any of these are true, you’ll want to start working on building up your credit. That means getting a good history of paying your bills on time. It also means paying down your debt, giving you more available credit than debt.

All of these things are going to help improve your FICO score. That way, when you apply for a new type of credit, you’ll have a higher chance of getting approved. You’ll also have a higher chance of getting a reasonable interest rate on that new form of credit.

If you need to check FICO score before applying for something new, ensure you know where to go. With Experian, you’ll have everything you need to get yourself on the right track and ensure you can get approved for whatever you may need.
